Day 13 – McMichaels Gallery

So this morning we said our good byes to one third of our convoy as they headed another direction to see my aunts parents somewhere else here in Ontario. We also saw some cool Canadian outlet stores but it was too early for us (they were really close to the campground/strip clubs  via vehicle) so we decided not to look in them and continued on to Clinesberg. Little did I know we were going into one of the biggest public galleries in Canada and biggest all Canadian gallery/home of the biggest collection of paintings by Tom Thompson and The Group Of Seven. It was SUPER cool and of course other then my Opa (who sorta got lost) I obviously took the longest to make my way through the gallery of intriguing arrangements of colors and shades. I also have an all new perspective and respect for first nations art due to two Canadian artists in particular. Emily Carr had quite a few paintings in there too but they paled in comparison to those of the ones who inspired her from the group of seven. Too bad you weren’t allowed to take photos although understandable, you guys will just have to see them for yourself someday :P

*Reminder to self* -New favourite artists
From the Seven:
-Franklin Carmichael
-Lawern S. Harris
-A. J. Casson

First Nations Artists:
-Shawn Hunt
-Don Yeomans

Then we went to Canada’s Wonderland to find out where the closest campground was but there wasn’t one closer then 17 minutes which turned into an hour with rush hour traffic and later because the place was a dump so we had to look else where. This place isn’t so bad, if not for all the white trash riding about, some nice sites/sights here and there though *cough* *cough*. Looking forward to tomorrow when we spend all day at the Park, I’ll be sure to bring my camera for some wicked shots, CYA! Conrad Out?
